Dr. Ray is the National President of the Indian Society for Training and Development(ISTD). In addition to being a graduate in science, he holds a bouquet of professional qualifications. He is a PG Diploma in IR&PM, LWO, PG Diploma in Training & Development if ISTD, an MBA (HRD), LLB, and Ph.D. He started his career in 1984. He is a life member of ISTD and the National President since 2019.

His professional activities span beyond ISTD. He is also a member of the HR sub-committee of CII. He is also a life member of NHRD and NIPM. He is also a member of the Labour Standing Committee of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industries(BNCCI). 

He is also associated with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and State Productivity Council, Govt. of West Bengal.

Presently he is working with a USA-based organization, based in Kolkata.
